Unusual Items
Here's a close-up of the lining of a traditional black haori, with an interesting Egyptian motif. I've seen a few items through the years with Egyptian motifs, and I believe they may have been sold when the King Tut Exhibit first toured (1976-1979). None of the textiles seem old enough to date to the discovery of King Tutankhamum's tomb in 1922.
The most obvious changes involve support of the various imperial wars.
